The flowering time usually begins at Easter and many daffodils have a bell-shaped flower centre. The history of daffodils goes back far into the past. Thus, in ancient Egyptian tombs, woven wreaths of white-flowering tazettes have already been found. Daffodils were introduced in Central Europe around 1560. Today, the main propagation and breeding is mainly in England and the Netherlands. Approximately 200 varieties are currently being offered. They are completely hardy, do not like waterlogging and love a sunny to partially shaded location. Most varieties naturalise well and are ideal for public areas.
