…a nursery for wild animals Mixture for roe deer and hare Mixture for roe deer and hare This mixture speaks to hunters, who mainly manage roe deer and hare. These two species show similar browsing ha- bits, choosing their food very selectively and needing a broad offering of different plants. The plants in this mixture do not grow very high, enabling hunters to properly identify and selectively cull roe deer. We have included only plants in this mixture, whose seeds do not require great care when being sown. It is sufficient to sow these plants on the surface and then working them into the soil just slight- ly, for example using a rake. Some advice on cultivation Maintenance This mixture should be tended regularly to preserve its distinct character. The plot should be mown regularly and the plant remains should be removed afterwards (haymaking) or it should be mulched after mowing. In additi- on, it is important to provide this mixture with sufficient levels of Phosphorus, Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium Carbonate. After the second year, we recommend one of the following options: 1) Mowing the plot twice a year (June, September) or 2) mulching three times in a year (May, July, September). When choosing the second option, the plot generally won't require any additional man- uring. On small plots, this can be achieved using a high-power lawnmower. The pH-le- vels of the plot should be controlled regularly.
