Game Mix WSM 2 The game mixture for late sowing There are many instances, when it is not possible, to prepare a food plot in spring. Sometimes, spring may be unseasonably dry, or else the necessary farm machines may not be available. Or else, you may ref- rain from disturbing game species such as pheasants or partridges during their bree- ding season by sowing. In any of these si- tuations, WSM 2 may be the solution! While you may lose on average three months by sowing in summer, you gain in flexibility! 10 years after we developed WSM 1, we conceived WSM 2 with the specific aim of developing a food-plot mixture which can be sown in mid- to late summer. The components of this mixture are well up to this task. While the seeds of mustard, oil radish and scorpionweed may not mature fully, these plants act as a catch crop. This results in higher flexibility, when integrating food plots into the annual crop rotations of the agricultural landscape. This seamless integration is important to gain acceptance with local farmers, thereby ensuring that wild animals face a bright future, even in areas with intense agricultural use. Even though WSM 1 and 2 may not differ too much at first sight, there are some important differences. Two examples: The time of sowing Depending on whether an annual plant is sown in spring or in autumn, its seeds may or may not mature fully. In this aspect, the components mustard, scorpionweed and oil radish will act as a catch crop, not de- veloping seeds. They provide high quality fodder nonetheless! Depending on the time of sowing and the time of the first harsh frost, the height this mixture attains in the first year, is going to vary. Under optimal conditions, it may reach 75 cm or more. You will attain optimal cover for small game when sowing before mid-August.
